Keens Park Rangers Firsts               4

Shottermill & Haslemere Firsts      0

Goals: Michael Woods 3, Sam O’Shea 1

KEENS Park Rangers returned to action in fine style with a resounding 4-0 win at home to Shottermill & Haslemere.

The visiting side had earned their first point of the season the week before but came up against a KPR side on top form.

An excellent team performance saw the Gold and Blacks keep their first clean sheet of the season in a one-sided encounter.

Striker Michael Woods stole the show with a clinical hattrick among a number of impressive performances.

The Match

KPR are making a good habit of starting games well, with another early goal courtesy of Michael Woods.

Midfielder Ben Wicherek decided to try passing forward for a change, setting Woods free with a defence-splitting pass.

Woods made no mistake, lifting the ball over the keeper to put the home side ahead.

The visiting goalkeeper was to thank for keeping the away side in the tie, twice pulling off excellent saves to deny the younger Wicherek.

Despite their dominance, a 1-0 lead going in to half-time left the game in the balance, although any fears of a comeback were extinguished in the second half.

Woods doubled his tally for the day, latching on to a ball over the top from Wicherek Jr. and slotting past the keeper to double the lead.

From there, KPR began to hit top gear attacking with confidence.

Big Kev was called in to action in goal though as the away side showed they were still in the game.

A solid 1v1 save was just about all to write home about for Kev on a day where the defence was largely untested.

Subs Seamus Leonard and Rob Partridge got stuck into the action straight away, with the tallest linesman ever getting his head onto anything that came his way.

Leonard also provided the flick on for Woods to seal his hattrick with another composed finish.

However, goal of the day goes to Sam O’Shea.

A rocket from 30 yards out flew past the keeper, sealing the three points and rounding off the scoring on an excellent afternoon at Pyrford.
